CodeTally is a macOS desktop dashboard I built with Tauri 2, React and TypeScript, Rust, and SQLite. It imports repositories, shows portfolio totals and detail, and reports progress while history is being backfilled. Release workflows cover Apple Silicon and Intel.

A Tauri desktop shell connects React and TypeScript to Rust, SQLite, Git and Tokei. GitHub CLI supplies authentication; repository history is analysed locally.

Built around local history.

Git and Tokei inspect repository history on the machine. GitHub CLI handles authentication for activity feeds, so CodeTally does not keep a GitHub token itself.

The trade-off

The dashboard image above is a published, redacted macOS capture from the CodeTally repository. Its figures are sample historical data. Initial cloning and history analysis take disk space and time, and live GitHub activity still needs a connection.
